Providers/Practitioners
As a patient at PCC, you will have the
benefit of a
dedicated, compassionate and competent group of physicians, nurse
practitioners and physician assistants to meet your health care needs
in
a family practice setting. We care for patients across the entire life
span from infants through the elderly. You may choose one specific
provider that you want to see each time you have an appointment or you
can see different providers as part of a team approach to your care.
Either way, you will receive the best care we can offer. Our goal is to
not only treat your illness or disease, but to help you reach and
maintain the highest degree of health that is possible for you.
Raymond Rion, MD
 Dr. Rion is the Medical
Director of Packard Community Clinic and a long time friend of Packard
Community Clinic who joined the clinic in January 2002. He is
a graduate of Michigan
State University College of Human Medicine and completed
his
residency at Brown
University.
After his training, Dr. Rion worked at a federally funded health center
near Alpena. He returned to southeast Michigan and joined the University
of Michigan in 1992. He has practiced in the Ann Arbor
area since that time and has
extensive teaching and administrative experience at the University. Dr.
Rion is board certified in Family
Practice and Geriatrics.
His clinical
interests include diabetes, geriatrics, and adult dermatology. He
enjoys running, biking, hiking, hockey, and travelling to the
southwest. He has three children who keep him busy at home.

Alice Penrose, MD
Alice Penrose, MD, MPH is certified by the
American
Boards of Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine. She
recently completed a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology
(2006) at the University
of Michigan. Dr. Penrose has practiced medicine since 1985
primarily in Champaign, Illinois.
During that time, she was affiliated with the University of Illinois
Medical School as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr.
Penrose also volunteers
at
Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Mira Parkhie Sinha, MD
 Dr. Sinha comes to Packard Community Clinic from
Philadelphia where she completed her residency training and three years
of private family practice. She is a Board Certified Family Physician
who graduated from the University
of Michigan Medical School in 1998.
Dr. Sinha is well versed in evidence-based medical practice and brings
a fresh perspective on medical care to Packard. She lives in Ann Arbor
with her husband, a mechanical engineer, their son, an active
toddler
and dog, which specializes in chasing squirrels. Dr. Sinha is excited
to be joining Packard Community Clinic and looks forward to caring for
our patients today and in the years to come.

Jerry S. Walden, MD
 Dr.
Walden is the founder and Medical Director Emeritus of Packard
Community Clinic.
He is a board certified Family Practice physician who graduated from
the University
of Michigan Medical School and completed an internship at
Philadelphia General Hospital. In the 30
years since Dr. Walden established PCC, his passion has continued to be
to provide a place where all people can receive expert health care
regardless of their financial circumstances. He enjoys seeing patients
of all ages and is a strong advocate of social and medical reform. As
an extension of his work here in Ann Arbor, Dr. Walden provides relief
medical care to indigenous populations in Mexico on a yearly basis. Dr.
Walden was named "Family Physician of the Year"
in 2000 by the Michigan Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Walden is
married
and the father of two daughters. He is the grandfather of six. When he
is not carrying out his physician responsibilities, Dr. Walden is an
avid runner and outdoorsman. He and his wife enjoy traveling and are
active participants in the Ann Arbor community.

Julie Walker, RN, MSN, CS
 Ms. Walker
is one of two board certified nurse practitioners who are
part of the PCC provider group. After completing a degree in
psychology, Ms. Walker went on to complete a BS in nursing at Creighton
University and an MS in nursing at Michigan State University.
She joined PCC in 1996. Her specialty is Family Medicine. Ms. Walker
has over 20 years of experience in nursing in a variety of settings
that she brings to her practice here. Of special interest to her are
health issues of women and children. She is a strong advocate for
education and in making her patients active participants in their care.
When she is not at PCC, Ms. Walker helps cancer patients and their
families adjust to living with this diagnosis. She is married and has
one teenage son. She enjoys family time, golf and traveling.

Ellen Arneson, PA-C
 Ms. Arneson is a board
certified physician assistant who joined PCC in 1999 after completing
her MS at the University
of Detroit Mercy Physician Assistant Program. She had earlier
received her undergraduate degree in biology from Simmons College.
She has a background in research in the fields of endocrinology and
biochemistry. Ms. Arneson is interested in all aspects of Family
Medicine and particularly enjoys the opportunity a practice like
Packard provides to help her patients make healthy choices in how they
live their lives. Ms. Arneson is married and the mother of two grown
children. She has spent many years as a dedicated community volunteer.
When she is not busy with her practice here at PCC, she enjoys taking
care of her household and can frequently be seen at UM sporting events.
